Stories of Giving and Receiving

Employees Rally for the Foundation

My name is Cookie Formaro and I have had the privilege to work here at Broadlawns Medical Center for going on 16 years. I am writing this letter in hopes that I can influence your thoughts about helping our Medical Center so together we can help the population who need our assistance. Through the years that I’ve been here, I thought that my dedicated service would contribute to this good cause.

The more I think about it, it keeps coming back to me that I need to do more. [For example,] when it comes time for vacation or taking time off for my own personal wants and needs, I decided that I could reduce these times off and transfer the money to where it could help relieve some of the financial burdens on our Medical Center.

I know that we give it our all when we come to work and we do our best. I just want you to consider looking at all the needs that continue to put burdens on our patients. I am asking you for your considerations for our great cause.

Why People Give

“When I give to the Broadlawns Medical Center Foundation, I know my support doesn’t disappear into a big budget.  Instead, I am able to see direct results.  It’s easy to make things happen and make things better at Broadlawns because the need is so great.  It’s an opportunity for my gift to make a real impact.”

- Jim Hubbell, III

"My brother was recently a patient at Broadlawns in the ICU. ...I experienced some of the finest personnel I have ever known in my life. Doctors, nurses, aids, staff...everyone. These were (and are) the most caring, giving, hard working and intelligent people I could possible have asked to take care of my brother.  I wouldn't have wanted him any other place, or under any one else's care. ...I can tell you [Broadlanws] that you represent one of the finest facilities and greatest people I know...

Because of the wonderful care that I saw my brother receive while at Broadlawns, I was moved to ask that anyone wanting to make a donation in his memory make a check out to Broadlawns. Enclosed you will find those checks. I truly wish it could be more. Please accept them on behalf of my brother, and please accept his thanks to you and all the personnel at Broadlawns for making his last days on this earth as painless as possible."

- Tim Marsden

What a Difference a Gift Can Make

“We greatly appreciate all the community-wide support that we have received, and it is only with this support that we can help to ensure that Broadlawns Medical Center can continue to care for our community.”
