Stories of Giving and Receiving

Kudos for Caring!  Shirley Polka

To Broadlawns Surgical Staff

I have never enjoyed being in a hospital, however, your group and any others involved were the kindest and caring people I have ever met!  Those warm blankets!  The concern of ‘how are you?’, ‘anything I can do to help?’ – you will all stay in my heart.  I will hold you all in my prayers and again, thank you all!

God Bless!

…the care that Eddie receives and the caregivers he works with on his treatment plans are the reason he likes Broadlawns.  When asked why he prefers Broadlawns to other area mental health units he said, "Broadlawns staff are really helpful, nice and easy to talk to.  At other hospitals the staff won't talk to me."

To Broadlawns Walk In Clinic Staff

It was 2 p.m. on Christmas Eve and I felt that I was starting to get a bladder infection so I went to my usual clinic, they were closed and referred me to the emergency department.  Then, my daughter and I went to another clinic and they too were closed and also referred me to the emergency department.  I knew I needed prescription medicine as I often have these infections and I knew I needed to see a physician.  My daughter, a nurse at Broadlawns Medical Center, took me to their Walk In Clinic as it was open till 5:00 p.m. that day.  I was registered and in a room within 30 minutes.  The nurses and physician was very professional, kind and helpful and I was examined, had lab work done and got my prescription.  The nurse knew I was in pain and made my needs paramount.

Had Broadlawns Medical Center clinics not been open I would have been forced to go to the emergency department at a much larger expense to both myself and my insurance company.  I currently volunteer at Broadlawns and I would never hesitate to go to Broadlawns, the service is as good as anywhere else I have ever been.
