Scheduling a Clinic Visit
Specialty clinics at Broadlawns Medical Center offer convenience when patients need to see one of our providers. We provide interpreters in several languages to help patients schedule appointments and understand their health care options.
- The Broadlawns Primary Care Clinic focuses on developing long-term relationships between patients and providers in support of wellness, illness and chronic conditions.
- The Primary Care Group Walk in Clinic is for patients when they are suddenly sick or hurt and need to be seen quickly without waiting for an appointment.
- The Family Heatlh Center develops primary care relationships with the entire family for a lifetime of care.
- The Pediatric Clinic is for babies through adolescents for wellness, acute care and chronic conditions.
- The Foot and Ankle Clinic provides specialized care for the lower extremities.
- The Dental Clinic accepts adult walk in patients twice a day. Children may schedule appointments.
- The Internal Medicine Clinic makes appointments when patients are referred by a primary care provider.
- Specialty Clinics provide care for patients who have been referred by their primary providers for specialized care.
- The Diagnostic Clinic offers diagnostic tests including EKGs, EEGs, echocardiograms, treadmill stress tests and venous Doppler studies.
When you make an appointment, our staff will ask several questions to assure we schedule the appropriate time you will need with your physician and other clinic providers. Each appointment is intended for a single individual. If another member of your family needs care, we will schedule separate appointments.
If you need to reschedule or cancel an appointment, please call 24 hours in advance. Advance notice allows us to reschedule other patients who may be waiting for an appointment.

Broadlawns Primary Care Clinic
The Primary Care Clinic at Broadlawns Medical Center focuses on developing long-term relationships between patients and providers. Board-certified family medicine physicians and nurse practitioners deliver acute, chronic, and preventive care services . The clinic provides a permanent medical home for patients who can see the same doctor on a continuing basis.
The clinic offers comprehensive family-focused services for adults and children, including:
- Well visits
- Physicals
- Women’s health
- Acute conditions such as flu, sinus conditions, seasonal allergies
- Chronic disease management for diseases such as diabetes, hypertension or high cholesterol
- Minor procedures such as skin surgery
The providers in the Primary Care Clinic help patients learn to manage their chronic conditions through regular visits and adherence to treatment programs. Patients become more capable in taking charge of their own health care. Continuity of care is provided as physicians make appropriate referrals to expert specialists in other areas of Broadlawns Medical Center.

Primary Care Group Walk In Clinic
The Primary Care Group Walk In Clinic at Broadlawns Medical Center is a non-emergent clinic for patients who become suddenly sick or sustain an injury and need to be seen quickly without waiting for an appointment. We understand that health care situations can pop up unexpectedly and do not always happen as a scheduled event.
The goal of the Walk In Clinic is to evaluate, treat and provide you with immediate health care services. The physicians and staff at the Walk In Clinic work closely with the Broadlawns Primary Care Clinic, the Family Health Center and Internal Medicine Clinic when follow-up care is needed. These clinics provide you with continuous care treatment by a provider who knows your medical needs.
The Walk In Clinic is located on the first floor of the main building of Broadlawns Medical Center.

Family Health Center
The Broadlawns Family Health Center provides primary health care for the entire family, for a lifetime of comprehensive care. Prenatal, pediatric, adolescent, adult, geriatric and behavioral health care needs are served by our board-certified family medicine physicians who guide and direct the physicians in our Family Medicine Residency Program.
Providers in the Family Health Center focus on comprehensive primary and preventive health care. Our culturally and linguistically diverse staff are prepared to assist patients with all of their health care needs.
The Family Health Center is conveniently located across the drive from the hospital’s main entrance.

Pediatric Clinic
The Pediatric Clinic is staffed to see babies through adolescents for wellness, acute care and chronic conditions. Every child receives compassionate and caring attention fro our team of pediatric specialists.
From well-baby care to health screenings, from earaches to asthma, from kid complaints to parent concerns, the Broadlawns Medical Center pediatric team is dedicated to meeting the needs of your growing family.

Foot and Ankle Clinic
The Foot and Ankle Clinic is a leading-edge medical/surgical clinic offering the highest quality treatment of medical problems in the lower extremities. Our board-certified physicians are experts in specialized care for the lower extremity concerns, including diabetic foot care and ulcer management. They provide a comprehensive range of procedures from repairing bunions to replacing arthritic ankle joints and performing Charcot reconstruction of the trauma surgery.
Patients of all ages are welcome at Broadlawns Foot and Ankle Clinic. Protecting and restoring mobility is our first priority for patients who are experiencing problems with their feet or ankles, or have limited mobility due to:

Our staff of physicians are available in clinic five days a week and on-call for emergencies 24 hours a day, 7 days a week.

Dental Clinic
The Dental Clinic provides emergency, preventive and comprehensive dental services for patients of all ages from children to adults. A team of staff dentists, dental hygienists and dental assistants, along with senior year dental students from the University of Iowa provide dental care in the clinic.
The clinic provides education, screening and referral programs to a variety of groups throughout Polk County including senior centers, public school programs, juvenile facilities, daycare/preschools, group homes and long-term care facilities.
The Dental Clinic is located at the Broadlawns Medical Center Main Campus on the lower level of the Family Health Center, just across from the main entrance to the hospital. Patients may schedule appointments, or come during the walk-in hours when tooth pain or injury makes it impossible to wait for an appointment.

Internal Medicine Clinic
Physicians at Broadlawns Internal Medicine Clinic see patients who are referred by a primary care provider for specific health conditions. The Internal Medicine physicians specialize in managing complex chronic health problems, along with their associated risks and related preventive care.
The goal of this clinic is to provide continuity of care for adult patients with chronic medical conditions. Case management techniques and patient involvement in self-care are emphasized in support of our focus on primary care, along with consultation services.
This clinic is located on the second floor of the Broadlawns Medical Center main building. This location is convenient if you are referred to any of our specialty clinics, which are located next to the Internal Medicine Clinic.
