Transitional Year Program Curriculum

*Two months of electives can be scheduled as call-free months.

Family Medicine Model Office: Two hours per day, two days per week.

Call: When on inpatient services at IMMC or Blank Children's Hospital, residents share call on that service.  Call during the first year averages every fourth or fifth night, about two-thirds of which is at Broadlawns Medical Center.

Family Medicine Curriculum - First Year

Office Hours: Two hours per day, two days per week.

Call: When on inpatient services at Iowa Methodist Medical Center or Blank Children's Hospital, residents share call on that service.  Call during the first year averages every fourth or fifth night, about two-thirds of which is at Broadlawns Medical Center.

Family Medicine Curriculum - Second Year

Office Hours: Three one-half days per week.

Call: Call during the second year averages every fifth to sixth night, including back-up calls.  Two-thirds of call is home call.

Family Medicine Curriculum - Third Year

Office Hours: Four or five one-half days per week.

Call: Call during the third year averages every sixth to seventh night, including back-up calls.  Two-thirds of call is home call.

ACLS, NRP, PALS, ATLS certification training provided.
