Larry Severidt, M.D.
Director of Family Medicine Residency Program
Dr. Severidt graduated from the University of Iowa College of Medicine in 1977. He completed his family medicine residency with the Genesis Medical Education Foundation (formerly Mercy/St. Lukes) in Davenport in 1980. He practiced in rural Iowa from 1980 to 2004. He came to Broadlawns Medical Center in 2004 with a dual appointment in the Department of Family Practice and emergency medicine. He was named Family Medicine Residency director in 2006.
Dr. Severidt has served as a medical student preceptor and mentor for Des Moines University and the University of Iowa, receiving Preceptor of the Year from the University of Iowa in 2000. He also received the Iowa Medical Society Award for Community Services in 1999. In 2010 he received the Iowa Academy of Family Physicians Educator of the Year award. His special interests include leading medical brigades to Central America.

Nicholas Galioto, M.D.
Director of Transitional Year Residency Program
Nicholas J. Galioto, M.D., ABFP, received his medical degree from Creighton University School of Medicine in 1988. He completed his residency training at Broadlawns Medical Center and joined the faculty upon graduating in 1991. Dr. Galioto became associate director of the Family Medicine Residency Program in 1994 and director of the Transitional Year Program in 1998. He also holds a faculty appointment at the University of Iowa and maintains clinical interests in the areas of critical care medicine, pediatrics, sports medicine and neonatal resuscitation. He is certified as ACLS regional faculty.

Robert Bender, M.D.
Robert Bender, M.D. received his medical degree from St. Louis University School of Medicine in 1978. He completed his residency training at St. John’s Mercy Hospital in St. Louis, Missouri in 1981. He came to Broadlawns Medical Center in 2010
Dr. Bender is one of the first board-certified geriatricians in the country. He has been in practice in Iowa since 1981. He is currently the Medical Director at The Johnny and Romie Orr Memory Center in West Des Moines, Iowa. Dr. Bender currently sees patients in clinic, nursing home and hospital settings. He gives regular lectures to lay and professional groups. He also continues to do research regarding healthy aging, brain wellness, and preventive medicine.

Dana Danley, M.D.
Dana Danley, M.D., joined the Family Health Center faculty in September 2007. A graduate of the University of Iowa College of Medicine, she completed her residency in family medicine at Broadlawns Medical Center. Dr. Danley also practiced emergency medicine at Broadlawns. Dr. Danley also serves as a clinical adjunct assistant professor of family medicine and is site coordinator for the community-based primary care rotation for the Universit of Iowa. She also serves as preceptor for Des Moines University students on 3rd/4th year rotations.

C. David Smith, M.D.
C. David Smith, M.D. received his medical degree from the University of Iowa in Iowa City, IA in 1980. Following medical school he completed his internship at Iowa Methodist Medical Center in 1981. He received his surgical training at Boston Medical Center in Boston, Massachusetts and the VA Medical Center in Des Moines, Iowa.
Dr. Smith is board certified in general surgery. He is active in teaching general surgical techniques in our Derm Procedures clinic and Endoscopy to our residents.

Lisa Soldat, M.D.
Lisa Soldat, MD, MS, FAAFP graduated from the Medical College of Virginia in 1991. After completing a family medicine residency at the University of Minnesota in 1995, she worked in private practice in Minneapolis. From 2008-2010 she was a Clinical Associate in the University of Iowa Department of Family Medicine. She joined the Broadlawns faculty in the Department of Family Practice in 2010. She currently holds an appointment as adjunct faculty in the U of I Carver College of Medicine.
Dr. Soldat has an interest in continuing professional development and serves on the AAFP Commission on Continuing Professional Development and the Scientific Assembly planning committee. She is an alternate Board Director for the Iowa Academy of Family Physicians.
Dr. Soldat’s professional interests include women’s health, obstetric ultrasounds, cross-cultural and wilderness medicine. Outside of work she enjoys high altitude trekking, golf, gardening, quilting and knitting.

Joshua Stubblefield, D.O.
Joshua Stubblefield, D.O. received his undergraduate education at Brigham Young University and subsequently graduated from Des Moines University – Osteopathic Medical College in 2005. He joined the Broadlawns Residency Program faculty after completing his residency in 2008 at Broadlawns Medical Center. Dr. Stubblefield is board certified through the AAFP as well as ACOFP.
Dr. Stubblefield’s areas of interests include osteopathic manipulation, non-surgical modalities for acute and chronic musculoskeletal pain, musculoskeletal ultrasound and medical homes. Dr. Stubblefield holds an adjunct faculty appointment for Osteopathic Manipulative Medicine at Des Moines University and Assistant Professor at the University of Iowa. Dr. Stubblefield is also fluent in Spanish.

Carol Tershak, Ph.D.
Dr. Tershak is a licensed clinical psychologist. She received her Ph.D. in clinical psychology from Oklahoma State University and completed her clinical internship in the Department of Psychiatry at Washington University School of Medicine in St. Louis, MO. Before coming to Broadlawns Medical Center in 2002, Dr. Tershak served in clinical and administrative positions at medical centers in Indiana, Missouri and Arkansas. Her areas of interest include physician well-being, behavioral change and patient adherence. Dr. Tershak coordinates the behavioral science curriculum.
CoraLynn (Becker) Trewet, PharmD
CoraLynn (Becker) Trewet, MS, PharmD., CDE received her Doctor of Pharmacy degree from Drake University in 2003. Dr. Trewet completed a Practice Management Residency and obtained her masters in pharmacy administration from the University of Kansas. She is the clinical pharmacist with the Broadlawns Family Medicine Residency program. She also serves as an assistant clinical professor of family medicine for the University of Iowa. A board member for the Midwest Lipid Association she presents at regional and national meetings. Her interests include family medicine diabetes, cardiology, ambulatory care, patient adherence, health coaching, clinical management and academia.
