Additional SHIIP Counselors Available at Broadlawns

Des Moines, IA – August 2013 – A popular, free program to help seniors understand Medicare is expanding at Broadlawns Medical Center in Des Moines with the addition of two more volunteers. SHIIP, the Senior Health Insurance Information Program, provides informational materials as well as one-to-one assistance with questions and problems related to Medicare benefits.

Nora Nurre and Marianne Gideon, who both completed the extensive, six-day training program conducted by the State of Iowa Insurance Division, will be available at Broadlawns to answer questions such as –
What does Medicare cover and what is difference between Part A and Part B?
Where can I go to find answers about the Medicare prescription drug plans?
What is a Medicare Advantage Plan?
I’m turning 65—who can help me fill out paperwork?
Are mammograms covered by Medicare Part B?

As SHIIP volunteers, and with the support of Broadlawns, the SHIIP team is able to provide informed, impartial information and guidance – for free – at the Broadlawns main hospital, 1801 Hickman Rd. Des Moines, Room C138.
