Bill Taber Appointed as Broadlawns Trustee

William E. (Bill) Taber Broadlawns Medical Center Trustee

Broadlawns Medical Center (BMC) announced today that William E. (Bill) Taber has been appointed to its Board of Trustees, and he will complete a term that was vacated by Cynthia Gray. 

“I’m very excited to serve as a Broadlawns Trustee, and I am really looking forward to furthering the mission of Broadlawns Medical Center,” said Bill Taber, a newly appointed Broadlawns Trustee. “I’ll work to see Broadlawns become the community hospital of choice in Central Iowa and to position Broadlawns as the best public hospital in America.”

The Broadlawns Medical Center Board of Trustees serves as the governing body for BMC.   The board is comprised of seven members who are elected to six-year terms.  Mr. Taber was chosen from a field of five applicants for the vacated board seat.  Applicants were interviewed at a public forum on November 1st, and Mr. Taber was selected by the Board of Trustees at a Special Board Meeting on November 6th.  Mr. Taber was sworn in on November 21st, and his term will expire on December 31, 2020.

Mr. Taber is President of TABER Asset Management, LLC, a fiduciary-based investment management and financial planning firm.  Mr. Taber has extensive community service experience including: Broadlawns Medical Center Trustee and Board Chair (1989-1996); Community Representative Broadlawns Board Finance Committee (2003-present); Polk County Health Service Board of Directors (1989-1994); Polk County Health Services Foundation Board (2015-present); Taxpayers Association of Central Iowa (1997-2001); Smoother Sailing Foundation Board (2001-2015); Member of Central Iowa Greenways Task Force (2009-2013); Member of Rotary Club of Des Moines AM (1994-2012); Member of the Des Moines Vision Plan (1991), Founding Member of the GDM Connections Mentoring Program (1986-2001); and Member of the GDM Leadership Institute (1983-1986).
