Broadlawns Board of Trustees Election Fills Open Seats
November 5, 2010
Broadlawns Medical Center is a publicly funded community hospital, governed by an elected board of seven trustees who serve six-year terms. Our Board of Trustees had three open seats due to terms ending in December 2010. Polk County voters returned two incumbents and elected one newcomer in the general election on November 2, 2010, to fill the three openings.
Janet Metcalf, currently the chairperson of the board, was returned to serve as a trustee for another six years. She was appointed to the board in 2006.
Jean Logan, R.N., Ph.D., currently vice chairperson of the board, also returns for a second term on the board. Jean was first elected to the board in 2004.
Mary Krieg, R.N., Ph.D., will begin her first term on the board. Mary has been a staff nurse at Broadlawns Medical Center since 2007 and will change her role in January 2011.
The new board will convene in January 2011, when the three newly elected individuals join our other 4 trustees, Dave Harkness, treasurer; Mary Fuller, secretary; Cynthia Gray, and Michael Treinen. We appreciate the continued support the trustees provide for the mission of Broadlawns. Broadlawns extends a special thanks to Chuck Montgomery who served on the Broadlawns’ Board of Trustees for the past 18 months.
