Dr. Mandi Elected as President of Broadlawns Medical Staff

Des Moines, January 25, 2011 –  Denise Mandi, DPM, section chief of Broadlawns Foot and Ankle Surgery Department, was elected president of the medical staff at Broadlawns Medical Center for 2011. This marks the first time that a female physician has been elected to serve in this top medical leadership role at Broadlawns.

“Dr. Mandi came to Broadlawns in 2004, and she has been section chief of foot and ankle surgery since 2006,” said Chief Medical Officer Dr. Vincent Mandracchia. “She has previously provided excellent leadership as chair of the surgery department and has earned the respect of the entire medical staff.”

Also elected for one-terms were L. Jeffrey Rissman, MD, president elect; Randy Maigaard, MD, secretary/treasurer; Steve Stefani, MD, chair of the department of surgery and Doug Hanson, MD, chair of the department of medicine.

Broadlawns Medical Center first opened its doors as a hospital to the residents of Polk County on April 13, 1924. Over the years, Broadlawns has adapted to the changing demands of public health care, yet remained true to its mission of offering quality health services to all Polk County residents and training tomorrow’s health care professionals.

Today Broadlawns Medical Center is composed of:

  • An acute care community hospital serving medical, surgical, mental health and primary care needs
  • A 60-member physician practice overseeing numerous specialty clinics and outpatient services
  • Family Medicine Residency Program that graduates physician leaders who today serve in 22 of Iowa’s 99 counties
