Des Moines, October 28, 2008 – After spending eight years serving the broad health care needs of rural Iowa, Ernest M. Perea, M.D., a licensed family medicine physician, has joined the staff of the Primary Care Clinic at Broadlawns Medical Center.
“We are pleased to welcome Dr. Perea to Broadlawns,” said Douglas Workman, M.D., Director of Broadlawns’ Primary Care Clinic. “Dr. Perea has demonstrated his commitment to community-based health care during his extensive experience providing family medicine in Iowa’s rural communities. He is fluent in Spanish and also speaks Russian, which will help him communicate with our diverse patient populations and strengthen our goal to provide a medical home for residents of Polk County.”

Perea is also a veteran of the United States Air Force. Perea is accepting new patients at the Primary Care Clinic.

Over the years, Broadlawns has adapted to the changing demands of public health care, yet remained true to its mission of offering quality health services to all Polk County residents and training tomorrow’s health care professionals.
Today, Broadlawns Medical Center is composed of:

- A 60-member physician practice overseeing numerous specialty clinics and outpatient services.
- A family medicine residency program that graduates physician leaders who today serve throughout Iowa and across the nation.
