Ramoncito A. Ocampo, MD, and Susan Thivierge Join Broadlawns Medical Center Psychiatry Department
Des Moines, June 24, 2009 – Ramoncito A. Ocampo, MD., and Susan D. Thivierge, PA-C, have joined the psychiatry department at Broadlawns Medical Center.
Dr. Ocampo graduated from Manila Central University in Calloocan City, Philippines, and completed his residency and a fellowship at Mount Sinai School of Medicine in New York, NY. He is board certified by the American Board of Psychiatry and Neurology. After having a private practice in the Chicago area, he worked at Gundersen Lutheran Medical Center in La Crosse, WI, where he provided in-patient and out-patient adult and geriatric psychiatry and taught the psychiatry rotation for internal and family medicine residents.
“I am pleased to come to Des Moines to serve the growing patient needs seen at Broadlawns Medical Center,” Ocampo said. “I am especially interested in geriatric psychiatry and am eager to learn more about the city and opportunities here.”
Thivierge comes to Broadlawns from Dallas, TX, where she worked in private practice and in the prison system. She is a graduate of the University of Texas Medical Branch in Galveston, TX. She is physician assistant-certified (PA-C) by the National Commission on Certification of Physician Assistants (NCCPA).
“Both Dr. Ocampo and Susan Thivierge bring valuable experience and passion to the mental health care unit at Broadlawns,” said Broadlawns Chief Medical Officer Vincent J. Mandracchia, DPM, MHA. “We are pleased to have them join our professional team of dedicated providers.”
This year marks Broadlawns 85th anniversary of serving the health care needs of Polk County. With a history that reaches back to 1903 as a community health center, Broadlawns Medical Center first opened its doors as a hospital to the residents of Polk County on April 13, 1924. Over the years, Broadlawns has adapted to the changing demands of public health care, yet remained true to its mission of offering quality health services to all Polk County residents and training tomorrow’s health care professionals.
Today, Broadlawns Medical Center is composed of:
- An acute care community hospital serving medical, surgical, mental health and primary care needs, including pediatrics and women’s health care.
- A 60-member physician practice overseeing numerous specialty clinics and outpatient services.
- A family medicine residency program that graduates physician leaders who today serve throughout Iowa and across the nation.
