Broadlawns Earns Sodexo Gold Award
March 16, 2010
DES MOINES, Iowa (Mar 16, 2010) -- Broadlawns Medical Center's Food & Nutrition Department recently received a Gold Award from Sodexo, Inc., a Maryland-based food and facilities management services company. Sodexo Regional Director Andrew Stonestreet presented the award to the department personnel and Al White, chief financial officer of Broadlawns.
Broadlawns received a 100% score on the measurement survey, which looks at prep, service and competence. Stonestreet noted that this achievement is rare, stating this is the only rating he has ever seen at this level. "Some may score 99%, but to achieve 100% is truly outstanding," he emphasized.
Noting that hospital kitchens are often not recognized for their commitment to quality, White remarked, “We are extremely proud of this recognition for our Food and Nutrition Department. This team goes beyond the expected every day to deliver good food and top-notch service for our patients, guests and employees.”
Broadlawns Medical Center first opened its doors as a hospital to the residents of Polk County on April 13, 1924. Over the years, Broadlawns has adapted to the changing demands of public health care, yet remained true to its mission of offering quality health services to all Polk County residents and training tomorrow’s health care professionals.
Today Broadlawns Medical Center is composed of:
- An acute care community hospital serving medical, surgical, mental health and primary care needs
- A 60-member physician practice overseeing numerous specialty clinics and outpatient services
- A Family Medicine Residency Program that graduates physician leaders who today serve in 22 of Iowa’s 99 counties
