Mikki Stier - OTR/L, MSHA, FACHE
Government and External Relations
Mikki Stier is the vice president of government and external relations at Broadlawns Medical Center.
With 33 years of health care experience in multiple states, Ms. Stier has supported or led significant initiatives and business strategies during some of the most challenging times in health care history. From a hospital startup to restructuring and just about everything in between, Ms. Stier has been at the heart of developing health care policy strategies and resources to improve the way health care is provided.
As an executive at Broadlawns, Ms. Stier is charged with a broad range of responsibilities including building an external network of business leaders and legislators who proactively support Broadlawns Medical Center and its mission, vision, and values, government relations, advocacy, public policy, and community relations. She has been recognized as a game-changer in the area of raising new and significant sources of revenue from county, state, and federal governments in recent years. She also leads both the Broadlawns Foundation and Guild.
Ms. Stier has a M.S.H.A. from the University of Colorado; a B.S. in Occupational Therapy from Colorado State University; and is a Fellow in the American College of Healthcare Executives (ACHE). She is active in community non-profit organizations and is on the Board of Directors for the Des Moines East and South Chamber of Commerce, Bras for the Cause, Susan G. Komen IOWA, On With Life, and the Iowa Association of Healthcare Leaders (Iowa Chapter of ACHE). In addition, Ms. Stier serves on the America’s Essential Hospital advocacy committee (national), is the vice chair for the Iowa Tobacco Commission, and is a Polk County Planning and Zoning Commissioner.
