Volunteer and Guild Services
Welcome and thank you for visiting the Volunteer and Guild Services page at Broadlawns online. Volunteers play a critical role in the hospital's mission to deliver high-quality patient care.
The volunteer and guild members at Broadlawns are talented and generous men, women and students who make a difference in the lives of our patients, their families and our staff. At any given time of the day, volunteers and guild members are providing information, guidance, smiles, sustenance and support to those who are patients and visitors in our hospital and clinics.
Energetic volunteers of all ages, skills and interests are needed. We have a variety of volunteer roles to fit individual time schedules, abilities and interests. Some staff the reception areas and gift shops. Others help at the Dental Clinic and the surgery department desk.
You will make a good volunteer if you:
- Have a sincere interest in people and helping others
- Have a sense of responsibility and dependability
- Are willing to accept hospital policies and procedures
- Have a professional and positive attitude about your commitment to the hospital, its patients and visitors
- Like being a valued part of a team
- Are physically able to perform volunteer work, as some areas may require lifting or standing
We ask our volunteers to attend a special orientation session to assure their safety and the safety of our patients and their families.
The rewards of volunteering are many and extend far beyond the good feeling you get from helping others. We hope that all volunteer experiences are rewarding and enjoyable. Here are some great reasons shared by some or our volunteers, who say they enjoy:
-
Making a difference in someone else’s life
-
Learning about the community
-
Developing leadership skills
-
Being active
-
Making new friends
-
Sharing and spreading enthusiasm
-
Being a valued part of a team
-
Helping create a caring community
