Smoking Cessation Classes
Freedom From Smoking® - Quit Smoking For Life!
The Freedom From Smoking® program is based on the underlying premise that smoking is a learned habit, so quitting is unlearning this automatic behavior and replacing it with healthy alternatives.
- Continuous enrollment!
- Enhanced support to increase your success
We use techniques based on pharmacological and psychological principles and methods that will help you gain control over your behavior. Group interaction is another important process/tool to help you quit smoking. A $25 per person fee covers the cost of the workbook, CD and other materials to ensure your success.

Anger Management Program
Anger is a completely normal, usually healthy, human emotion. But when it gets out of control and turns destructive, it can lead to problems - problems at work, in your personal relationships, and in the overall quality of your life. And it can make you feel as though you're at the mercy of an unpredictable and powerful emotion.
If you feel that your anger is really out of control, if it is having an impact on your relationships and on important parts of you life, you might consider our training program to learn how to handle it better.
This is an on-going 8 week program facilitated by Melvin Bobo, LISW, Mental Health Services. Please contact the BMC Academy at 282.2458 for current dates and times of the program. The cost to participants for the 8-week program is $45 which covers the cost of materials.
La Leche League Mother-to-Mother Breastfeeding Support Meetings
La Leche League meetings provide a time for mother-to-mother support in a friendly, accepting atmosphere, and they include expectant, new, and experienced mothers. Meetings are held bi-monthly and typically involve a group discussion about the selected topic followed by a time for questions related to breastfeeding and mothering issues. After the formal meeting is concluded, light refreshments are offered and mothers are given a chance to chat with other mothers in a warm and welcoming environment. Babies are always welcome at our meetings and we also welcome toddlers and older siblings at our Saturday meetings.
We currently meet at Broadlawns on the second Saturday of each month at 10:00 AM and the fourth Monday of every month at 7pm. We use the meeting space in the Naurine Room just inside the Sands Center entrance off of parking Lot A.
Attending La Leche League Meetings can help you learn about breastfeeding from other nursing mothers. At these monthly meetings, mothers share not only their questions and concerns but also the benefits and joys of breastfeeding. Knowing other women who have breastfed their babies can be helpful and reassuring. It is also important to have accurate, up-to-date information.
