Smoking Cessation Classes
Quit Smart
This five-week smoking cessation class utilizes a kit in addition to personalized instructions for quitting. Quit Smart combines several powerful treatment elements—hypnosis (CD), medication recommendations and a patented simulated cigarette—to produce a potent stop-smoking treatment.
The program was developed by Dr. Robert Shipley, Director of the Duke Medical Center Stop Smoking Clinic. Fee is $25 per person

Freedom From Smoking
This is an eight-week program sponsored by the American Lung Association.

Thank Goodness I'm Free (TGIF) Smoking Cessation Support Group
This support group is open to anyone who is actively trying to quit smoking or who is tobacco free.
- 2nd Thursday of each month

Group Hypnosis
Two different group hypnosis sessions will be available to assist you with your goal to stop smoking. Debra McKenzie, a certified hypnotist, will first meet with you one-to-one and then offer five additional group hypnosis sessions to assist you with this goal.
If you are trying to quit and you have tried everything, maybe it is time to try something different. Fee is $125 per person.

This group is open to the public and meets monthly on the 3rd Thursday starting in March thru November 2008. Free membership.

Parenting - Raising a Resilient Child
This is a nine-week class.

The primary objective of this parenting program is to assist parents in raising resilient children in a consistent and predictable manner. You will learn to foster strength, hope and optimism in your child.
We will address the following:
- Being empathetic
- Changing negative scripts
- Disciplining in ways that promote self-discipline and self-worth
- Teaching children to solve problems and make decisions
- Loving children in ways that help them feel special and appreciated
- Helping children recognize that mistakes are experiences from which to learn
- Helping children experience success by identifying and reinforcing their islands of competence
