Larry Severidt, MD

Designated Institutional Officer and Director of Medical Education

Dr. Severidt came to Broadlawns Medical Center in 2004 with a dual appointment in the Department of Family Practice and Emergency Medicine. He was named Family Medicine Residency Director in 2006.

Dr. Severidt has served as a medical student preceptor and mentor for Des Moines University and the University of Iowa, receiving Preceptor of the Year from the University of Iowa in 2000. He also received the Iowa Medical Society Award for Community Services in 1999. In 2010, he received the Iowa Academy of Family Physicians Educator of the Year award. Dr. Severidt has Clinical Faculty appointments at Des Moines University and the University of Iowa. His special interests include leading medical brigades to Honduras, obstetrical practice and rural medicine.
