Infection Control Nurse

Job Description

Reports to the Assistant Vice President of Quality, Risk, and Accreditation. Coordinates the overall infection control program for the medical center including activities relating to the surveillance, prevention and control of healthcare acquired infections in cooperation with the Infection Control Committee chairman and reports to the Infection Control Committee.  Supports delivery of quality patient care through identification and prevention of healthcare acquired infections for patients as well as disease transmission for health care workers.  Provides in-service education concerning infection control policy, procedures and practices for the medical center.  Serves as a liaison with local public health authorities.

Generally Monday-Friday, 8am-4:30pm


1.        Registered Nurse in the State of Iowa  

2.        Certification through C.B.I.C. (Certification Board for Infection Control) or two-five years clinical experience and a commitment to obtain certification through the Certification Board for Infection Control (C.B.I.C.) within two (2) years of hire.

3.        Data management skills to include Word, and Excel applications for reporting, and trending IP data applications.

4.        Ability to effectively communicate orally and in writing and to establish and monitor positive interpersonal and professional relationships.
