Full Position Description:

An exciting opportunity for the right candidate to lead and manage the psychiatry residency program in the Broadlawns UnityPoint Psychiatry Residency Program and to educate physicians who want to provide exemplary, evidence-based psychiatric care to patients.  This is an opportunity to grow the psychiatry residency program, uniquely positioned within the UnityPoint Broadlawns Psychiatry Education Foundation, ensuring residents exposure to rigorous scholarly activity, research, clinical training, and a well-rounded practice of psychiatry medicine. Resident core rotations will occur at Broadlawns Medical Center, UnityPoint Health-Des Moines, and the Central Iowa Veteran’s Administration Hospital. The Broadlawns UnityPoint Psychiatry Residency Program was accredited by the ACGME on July 1, 2017 for 16 approved positions for 4 years.


The Program Director is responsible for the operation of the program, including all activities related to recruitment, selection, instruction, supervision, advising, evaluation, documentation, and advancement of residents. The Program Director ensures continuing accreditation of the program by adhering to ACGME common and specialty requirements.


Must hold current Board certification by the American Board of Psychiatry and Neurology
Have or must be able to obtain an active Iowa Medical License to practice medicine
Educational and administrative experience as a faculty member in the field of psychiatry sufficient to meet ACGME program director qualifications
Minimum of 3 years as an active faculty in ACGME residency
Minimum of 2 years GME administrative experience
