STEPPS for Teens (Systems Training for Emotional Predictability and Problem Solving for Emotional Intensity)

STEPPS for Teens is for youth ages 15-18 who are struggling with emotional intensity and mood dysregulation. This 12-week evidence-based educational and skills program will help those who have intense emotional reactions to even small triggers and/or those who struggle with interpersonal relationships due to poor boundaries.
Curriculum at a glance:
- Understanding, noticing and managing intense emotions and reactions.
- Learning to identify and challenge negative thinking patterns and push for positive behavioral changes.
- Developing healthy communication skills to improve relationships.
- Setting goals and developing healthy personal boundaries.
- Practicing a healthy lifestyle

DATE/TIME: Mondays, October 3rd, 2022 through December 19th, 2022, 4:00-6:00pm.
LOCATION: Broadlawns Medical Plaza, 3rd Floor Conference Room, 1761 Hickman Road, Des Moines, IA
REQUIREMENTS: Parent(s) of teens participating in the STEPPS program are required to attend one of the following orientation sessions on Monday, September 12th, 4-5pm or Monday, September 26th, 5-6pm. Orientation is for parents only; teens will start the program on October, 3rd.
Regular attendance is required to participate in and continue the program. Teens can only miss a total of two sessions.
