Broadlawns Medical Center Hosts
Groundbreaking Ceremony

Des Moines, IA (October 14, 2015) – Today, Broadlawns Medical Center (BMC) hosted a groundbreaking ceremony for its new medical clinic building, residency housing and inpatient behavioral health remodel and expansion.

A 72,000 square foot medical clinic building is being erected on the eastern portion of the Broadlawns campus.  This state-of-the-art facility will house the Family Health Center, Outpatient Behavioral Health and the Dental Clinic.  A 15-unit apartment building is being constructed to house residents from the BMC Family Medicine Residency program, and construction has begun to modernize and expand the Inpatient Behavioral Health Unit.

“It’s a privilege to attend to the healthcare needs of our community,” said Jody Jenner, President and CEO of BMC. “These projects will significantly impact our ability to expand access to high quality, affordable healthcare.”

The anticipated completion date for the new medical clinic building and the residency housing is early 2017. Renovations of the existing inpatient behavioral health unit will be completed in March of 2016, and the expanded inpatient bed capacity is estimated for completion in 12-18 months.
