Broadlawns Receives National Recognition
as Most Wired™ Hospital for Fifth Consecutive Year

Des Moines, IA  (July 10, 2015) – For the fifth consecutive year, Broadlawns Medical Center(BMC) has been recognized as one of the nation’s Most Wired™ hospitals by Hospitals & Health Networks (H&HN) magazine.  BMC was one of 400 hospitals nationally to earn this distinction and one of eight hospitals in Iowa that garnered this recognition.  This is the first time that BMC was recognized amongst the large tier hospitals.

“We look forward to participating in the Most Wired™ survey process each year, and it’s an honor to be recognized as a Most Wired™ hospital,” says Kyle Hansen, Director of Information Technology Services at BMC.  “The survey serves as a helpful tool because it provides us with feedback as to how we can continue to advance our technology initiatives at Broadlawns.”

BMC utilizes a Patient Portal, an online tool that provides patients with the ability to access information and resources needed to coordinate their healthcare services.  Patients have the opportunity to communicate securely with their providers, schedule appointments, review their medical history, and access general healthcare information. This technology provides resources that patients can leverage to achieve quality healthcare outcomes and access to their healthcare information.

About the Most Wired™ Survey

Conducted annually, the Most Wired™ survey is an industry-standard benchmark study that measures the level of IT security and patient engagement within U.S. hospitals and health systems.  HealthCare’s Most Wired™ survey was conducted between January 15 and March 15, 2015.  More than 2,213 U.S. hospitals submitted data for the 2015 Most Wired™ survey and benchmarking study.  The Most Wired™ program recognizes organizations that lead their peers in four areas:  Business and Administrative Management, Clinical Quality and Safety, Clinical Integration, and Infrastructure. The survey results are published annually by Health & Hospitals Network, an American Hospital Association magazine.  Detailed results of the survey and study can be found at: www.hhnmag.com.
