Lundquist named Program Director of Broadlawns UnityPoint Psychiatry Residency Program

Des Moines, IA. – February 5, 2019 – Rebecca Lundquist, MD has been named Program Director of the Broadlawns UnityPoint Psychiatry Residency Program.  Lundquist has 25 years of medical education experience.  For the last 15 years she taught psychiatry to residents and medical students at the University of Massachusetts.

Dr. Lundquist earned her A.B. in Psychology and Chemistry from Miami University in Oxford, Ohio. She earned her M.D. from Wright State University in Dayton, Ohio.  She completed her residency in psychiatry at the Harvard Longwood Psychiatry Residency Training Program in Boston, Massachusetts.

She has primarily worked as an outpatient psychiatrist and has supervised residents in psychopharmacology and psychodynamic psychotherapy.  In addition, Dr. Lundquist has a specialty interest in reproductive psychiatry and has worked as a consultant in obstetric clinics caring for pregnant and postpartum women with psychiatric illness as well as addictions.  For the last year and a half, she has also overseen the psychotherapy curriculum for the residency program at UMass.

The Broadlawns UnityPoint Psychiatry Residency Program earned full accreditation from the Accreditation Council for Graduate Medical Education (ACGME) in 2018.  The jointly administered program includes a full spectrum of clinical rotations in inpatient and outpatient mental healthcare for adult, geriatric and children/adolescent patients, substance abuse and addiction treatment, consult and liaison services, community psychiatry, including psychosocial rehabilitation, community resources and case management. Training is conducted at Broadlawns , UnityPoint Health – Des Moines, as well as the VA facilities, an affiliated partner.  Psychiatry residents garner experience with access to 112 inpatient behavioral health beds in addition to outpatient and community-based patient volumes that exceed 100,000 annual visits.
