Renee Hardman Named Chief Diversity, Equity and Inclusion Officer and Vice President of Human Resources at Broadlawns Medical Center Press Release April 6, 2022 Des Moines, Iowa (April 6, 2022) – Broadlawns Medical Center (BMC) announced today that Renee Hardman will serve as the organization’s first Chief Diversity, Equity and Inclusion Officer and Vice President of Human Resources. Her start date has yet to be announced. “Renee is uniquely qualified for this leadership position at Broadlawns, and we are very excited that she is joining our Executive Leadership Team,” said Tony Coleman, BMC President and CEO. “With Renee’s extensive professional experience as a human resources leader and her genuine commitment to affecting change in the DEI space, she will be a compelling advocate for our staff, patients and the community-at-large as we strive to achieve health equity.” Ms. Hardman currently serves as the CEO of Big Brothers Big Sisters of Central Iowa and as the owner of Hardman Consultant, LLC. Previously, she was the Senior Vice President of Human Resources at Bankers Trust. She is an elected official and is the first African American woman to hold the position of West Des Moines City Council Member. Ms. Hardman serves as a Des Moines University Trustee, Business Record DEI Advisory Committee Member, Tri-Chair of the DSM USA 4 Equity Collective, West Des Moines Human Rights Commissioner (Liaison) and as a past Greater Des Moines Partnership Diversity Committee Member. She has earned recognition as a community advocate as the Business Record’s #5 Most Influential Business Leader, Iowa Women Hall of Fame inductee, City of West Des Moines MLK, Jr. Award recipient, and as a Woman of Influence. She earned her bachelor’s degree and an MBA from Drake University. Ms. Hardman holds a senior professional human resources (SPHR) certification. She worked at BMC as a Psychiatric Technician earlier in her career.
