  • Residency training

  • Ability to get Iowa license

Goals

  • To provide the foot and ankle surgeon 12 months of advanced training in trauma, reconstruction, and total joint techniques.

Program Objectives

  • Be involved in clinical and basic research projects.

  • Research leading to potential publication of at least one manuscript.

  • Participate in hospital educational lecture series

  • Participate in clinical conferences, seminars, and journal clubs

  • Attend and lecture at Heartland Podiatry Conference

  • Attend the ACFAS conference

  • Take primary call 1 day per week and 2 weekends per month with staff coverage for trauma

  • Take secondary trauma call  when not on primary call

  • Assist orthopedic colleagues in surgery and clinic as scheduled

  • Maintain weekly office hours in clinic

  • Function as independent surgeon on less advanced procedures

  • Manage patients admitted to service

  • Participate in daily rounds

  • Document and maintain proper medical records

  • Be involved in student education
