Apprenticeship Programs - TECH & TEACH
In partnership with Urban Dreams, Central Iowa HealthWorks, Des Moines Public Schools, and DMACC, Broadlawns Medical Center is proud to offer paid apprenticeship opportunities for individuals who are interested in pursuing a career in healthcare. The programs include TECH (Training and Education for a Career in Healthcare) for high schools students and TEACH (Training and Education for Adults seeking a Career in Healthcare) for adults. Participants are introduced to Broadlawns’ work culture, career paths, and complete basic and advanced Certified Nursing Assistant (CNA) training.
Established in 2016, the TECH and TEACH programs are part of a multifaceted approach to address the social determinants of health for the North Des Moines community. As the largest employer in North Des Moines, Broadlawns recognizes that attending to the overall health of the community extends beyond providing traditional medical care. TECH and TEACH provide an access to healthcare training and the opportunity to gain employment, changing the lives of youth, adults, their families, and our community. Applicants must complete a rigorous application process.
Participants in the TECH program are identified as having one or more barriers to employment and/or are at the highest risk of disengaging from high school. The TEACH program is a registered apprenticeship program for adults who have encountered significant barriers to entering the workforce. With a focus on the Broadlawns neighboring community, the majority of participants will be selected from 50314 and 50316 zip codes. These zip codes represent the areas within Des Moines that have the highest poverty and unemployment levels.
Applications will be accepted at a later date. Please check here for updates.
