Broadlawns Variety Pediatric Clinic Celebrates Newly Renovated Space

Broadlawns Medical Center hosted an open house and ribbon cutting today at the newly renovated Broadlawns Variety Pediatric Clinic, located on the lower level of the Medical Office Building, 1801 Hickman Road in Des Moines.

The 1,700 square foot Pediatric Clinic provides compassionate healthcare for Polk County’s littlest patients, offering health screenings, vaccinations, acute and chronic care, and treatment of injuries. As a public healthcare provider, Broadlawns accepts patients with Medicaid and Medicare health coverage, as well as those with commercial insurance.

“We are excited to continue to serve the children in our community with a bolder, better, and brighter clinic,” said Broadlawns Medical Center President and CEO Dr. Anthony B. Coleman. “Thanks to the generosity of Variety-the Children’s Charity and the vision of Graham Construction and Shive-Hattery in helping provide a welcoming, kid-friendly space in which to offer the best in compassionate, high-quality healthcare.”

The remodel enhanced the efficiency of the space, with improvements to intake, patient flow, safety, and the addition of three exam rooms.

“We are so proud of our long-standing relationship with Broadlawns Medical Center; helping serve our community’s children from birth through adolescence,” said Variety-the Children’s Charity Executive Director Sheri McMichael. “The newly renovated Broadlawns Variety Pediatric Clinic is inviting, where the littlest of patients can receive specialized care in a safe, bright, and fun environment.”

Broadlawns partnered with Iowa-based artist, Laura Palmer, the illustrator behind XO-LP, for a bold and brightly colored mural at the clinic entrance. Laura’s work is also featured in the Broadlawns Family Birthing Center.
