Services Provided

Chemotherapy

Chemotherapy utilizes powerful medications to kill cancer cells. Cancer cells tend to multiply and grow more rapidly than normal body cells. Chemotherapy is used to destroy the cancerous cells and to hinder the growth of additional cancerous cells. The use of chemotherapy can alleviate symptoms, shrink tumors and effectively treat many forms of cancer. Frequently, chemotherapy treatment involves utilizing a combination of medications that may be administered through oral medications, intravenous medications or by injection.

Biotherapy

Biotherapy is a type of treatment that uses substances from living organisms to treat disease. The substances may occur naturally in the human body or made in the laboratory. In cancer, some biotherapies stimulate or suppress the immune system to help fight cancer. Other biotherapies attack specific cancer cells which may help them from growing or kill them. Types of biotherapy include immunotherapy and targeted therapies.

Immunotherapy

Immunotherapy is a treatment option that utilizes the patient’s own immune system to fight cancer cells. Immune therapy is administered in one of two ways. One method is through the stimulation of the immune system that boosts its ability to attack cancerous cells. Another method is conducted by administering synthetic immune system proteins that mirror natural immune proteins to eradicate cancerous cells.

Targeted Therapy

Targeted therapy is a type of treatment that uses drugs or other substances to identify and attack specific types of cancer cells with less harm to normal cells. Some targeted therapies block the action of certain enzymes, proteins, or other molecules involved in the growth and spread of cancer cells. Other types of targeted therapies help the immune system kill cancer cells or deliver toxic substances directly to cancer cells and kill them. Targeted therapy may have fewer side effects than other types of cancer treatments.

Service Coordination

Radiation Therapy

If a patient requires radiation therapy, staff will make the appropriate referral for them. Through the use of high dose x-rays, gamma rays and charged particles, radiation therapy eradicates cancer cells through targeted exposure. Radiation therapy has been found to effectively shrink tumors and destroy cancerous cells.
