Why I Chose Broadlawns for My Residency
I chose Broadlawns because I was seeking a community program that prioritized full-spectrum training in addition to resident autonomy and Broadlawns exceeded my expectations. As a medical student, I rotated here and was impressed by the degree of patient ownership that the residents had as well as the level of support surrounding the residency program. The hospital as a whole truly embraces what it means to be a community hospital and actively seeks to serve and meet the needs of the surrounding community. As a resident at Broadlawns, you can be sure that you will be part of a family that values its residents and strives to provide them with comprehensive, high-quality training.

Favorite Thing To Do in Des Moines
I like to describe Des Moines as having big city amenities with a small town community feel. One of my favorite things about Des Moines is that you can drive 15 minutes in one direction and be down a gravel road or exploring one of the many local state parks; or you can drive 15 minutes in the other direction and end up at a local restaurant or brewery in the heart of downtown. With that being said, the patio at Exile Brewing Co in downtown is one of my favorite spots for dinner and drinks on a warm summer night!
