Emily is currently a technology transactions attorney and has advised in a wide range of legal areas including commercial contracts, privacy, education, healthcare, computer software, and information technology. As an advocate of giving back to the community, she has actively served on many local non-profit boards. Emily's community outreach has touched the Broadlawns Board of Trustees as Vice Chair, the City of Des Moines Plan and Zoning Commission as Past Chair, the Des Moines Area Religious Council (DMARC) as Past President, the After School Arts Program (ASAP) as Past President, and Girls on the Run, to name a few. In her free time, Emily uses her law degree by helping refugees from around the world obtain green cards from the U.S. State Department and recently Afghan asylum seekers obtain asylum. In addition, she brought the formerly dormant Association of Corporate Counsel, Iowa Chapter back to life as President from 2021-2023.
After setting Iowa state track records in high school, Emily was an All-American runner at Wartburg College where she earned her bachelor’s degree in English and Creative Writing. Emily holds her juris doctorate from Creighton University School of Law and an MBA from the University of Iowa Tippie College of Business. She was named in the local Business Record 40 Under 40 in 2019 and was a finalist for the Girl Scouts of Iowa Inspiring Women of Iowa Character Award. She also won the Iowa Governor’s Volunteer Award in 2019 for her extensive volunteer work in the Des Moines community. In her spare time, she and her husband share a passion for being active including running marathons, hiking at National Parks, and mountain climbing. Emily ran the Boston Marathon in 2022 and recently qualified for the NYC Marathon. She continues to chase her goal of breaking 3 hours.
Most importantly, she and her husband had their first daughter in August of 2023, and they are having a blast being first time parents.

Emily is a member of the Broadlawns Medical Center Board of Trustees. She will complete her first term in December 2026.
