Denise Cundy brings more than 25 years of healthcare leadership experience to her role at Broadlawns Medical Center, where she oversees Quality, Operations, and Ancillary Services. She is dedicated to advancing patient care, strengthening operations, and supporting workforce development, while fostering a culture of accountability and continuous improvement.
A registered nurse by training, Denise began her career at Sioux Valley Hospital School of Nursing before earning a Bachelor of Science in Nursing from Huron University and a Master of Science in Nursing Education from South Dakota State University. Her career spans leadership roles in critical access, community, and tertiary hospitals, as well as faculty positions in higher education. Most recently, she served as Chief Nursing Officer for UnityPoint Health – Des Moines.
Denise completed the Executive Fellowship in Healthcare Innovation Leadership at Arizona State University, is board certified as a Nurse Executive through the American Nurses Credentialing Center, and she was recognized as one of the 100 Great Iowa Nurses in 2015. She is an active member of the American Organization of Nurse Leaders and the Iowa Organization of Nurse Leaders; and she serves on the Board of Directors for the Iowa Donor Network.
