Lance Schmitt, RN, BSN, MBA serves as the Chief Nursing Officer and Vice President of Nursing for Broadlawns Medical Center in Des Moines, Iowa.

He joined the staff at Broadlawns Medical Center in 2013 as the Director of Surgical Services and Intensive Care.  In 2017, he was promoted to the role of Acute Inpatient Care Administrator. In 2021, he was promoted into his current leadership position with oversight of all nursing services throughout the hospital.

Prior to joining Broadlawns, Lance served as the Clinical Supervisor of Surgical Services and the Intensive and Coronary Care Units for Mary Greeley Medical Center in Ames, Iowa from 1998–2013.  As an RN, Lance worked in Intensive Care and Surgery at Mercy Medical Center in Des Moines and Mary Greeley Medical Center in Ames.

Lance earned his master of business administration and bachelor of science in nursing from Upper Iowa University in Fayette, Iowa.  His diploma in nursing is from Mercy College of Health Sciences in Des Moines, Iowa.
