About
Dr. Yogi Shah is a dedicated dementia care specialist with a deep commitment to early detection and brain health. He completed his Geriatric Fellowship at the Mayo Clinic, focusing on the early identification of dementia, and holds a Master of Public Health (MPH) from Des Moines University.
Dr. Shah has held several key leadership roles in healthcare, including serving as Chief Medical Officer at Broadlawns Medical Center during the COVID-19 pandemic. Prior to that, he was the Founding Associate Dean of Global Health at Des Moines University, where he established student internships with the World Health Organization (WHO), Centers for Disease Control and Prevention (CDC), and a variety of international healthcare systems.
Currently, Dr. Shah serves as the Medical Director for Broadlawns Memory Clinic, Medical director of GUIDE program, the Site Principal Investigator for the University of Iowa’s Geriatric Workforce Empowerment Program (GEWP), and as a Board Member of the Iowa Chapter of the Alzheimer’s Association. Serves as CDC Navigating Brain Health and Dementia Work Group member. He is also a 2025 recipient of the Five Iowa Physicians to Watch and Iowa Welcome to the World award by Iowa International Center.
A sought-after speaker, Dr. Shah, has presented early detection and prevention of dementia at both national and international conferences. His current work focuses on advancing early detection, particularly in underserved and minority population and promoting brain health for all.
