Why I Chose Broadlawns for My Residency
Broadlawns was an easy choice for my Transitional Year Residency. I had heard, and continue to hear about the excellent teaching staff and the perfect balance between support and autonomy. The hospital covers a diverse patient population, with over 200 languages/dialects spoken in the surrounding area. I also have close ties to Des Moines, so I already knew the city had great food and parks, so you won't ever be bored in your time here.
Hobbies
I love hiking and trying new restaurants and breweries, and Des Moines has several options for both. Gray's Lake is a nice little park that's only a few blocks from downtown, and there are tons of good places to eat nearby too.
Favorite Thing To Do in Des Moines
It's hard to choose just one thing. An ideal day would include going to one of the many parks or the botanical gardens, then heading downtown for dinner and a drink at Exile Brewing.
