Dana Danley, MD

Job Title

Family Medicine Physician

What motivated you to become a doctor?

My brother had terrible asthma and was in the hospital a lot when I was a kid. Back then, they would not let children visit. I was convinced that I could become a doctor to help kids like my brother and change the rules about hospital visitation. My dad was a firefighter so I grew up around first responders at his fire station. He also inspired me to go into medicine.

Why do you choose to work at Broadlawns Medical Center?

I grew up in Des Moines, attending East High School with the motto, "For the Service of Humanity". Broadlawns allows me to give back to the community who supported me through scholarships and opportunities.

What advice would you give your 10-year-old self, knowing what you know now?

The journey is not always a straight line.

What do you love most about your job?

I truly love working with our patients, the Family Medicine residents and ALL the staff at Broadlawns. We are here to learn from each other and take care of the community.

What advice do you have for women entering medicine?

You can do it all and be a great 'Doctor Mom'.
