Iowa Total Care provides $10,000 in support for Broadlawns patients

Des Moines, Iowa (September 11, 2020) – Broadlawns Medical Center Foundation recently received a $10,000 gift from Iowa Total Care to support new mothers, children and families who receive care at Broadlawns Medical Center.

Iowa Total Care’s year-long commitment funding will provide:

  • 500 mothers and newborns in Broadlawns Medical Center’s brand new Family Birthing Center with a baby bag full of basic care essentials, critical to the first weeks of life.

  • 1,000 brand new, age appropriate books which will be distributed to each newborn and sibling in Broadlawns’ Family Birthing Center. This effort promotes early childhood literacy and education, a social determinant of health.

  • Gold level sponsorship of Broadlawns Medical Center Foundation’s signature event, Rosé Soirée, which was scheduled for Sept. 10. While the event was cancelled due to Covid, funds are still being raised to benefit FOCUS, a mental health program for children that is administered in partnership with the Des Moines Public Schools.

“We are truly grateful for the generosity and partnership of Iowa Total Care,” said Katie Wengert, Broadlawns Medical Center’s Chief Marketing and External Relations Officer and Foundation Executive Director. “Iowa Total Care identified unmet needs of our patients that align with their corporate giving platform. Their gift addresses health disparities and ensures that essential healthcare needs are met for all members of our community.”

“Iowa Total Care is honored to support Broadlawns Medical Center which is a critical resource to mothers and babies in our community,” said Mitch Wasden, Iowa Total Care’s Plan President & CEO.
