Transitional Year Medicine Continuity Clinic: ½ day per week
Vacation - Transitional Year: Three weeks of vacation (Monday through Sunday) are scheduled for first-year residents.
Electives
During the Transitional Year Residency, residents spend 4 scheduling blocks in elective rotations in the areas of their special interest. Currently the program offers electives in: Adolescent Medicine, Anesthesia, Cardiology - CCU, Dental, Dermatology, Endocrine, Hematology/Oncology, ICU, Inpatient Medicine, Interventional Pain Medicine, Nephrology, Neurology, OB/GYN, Ophthalmology, Ortho (Adult/Peds), Outpatient IM, Pediatrics, Physical Medicine, Podiatry, POCUS, Psychiatry, Radiology, Rheumatology, Sports Medicine, Surgery.
Specially arranged electives in areas other than those already established also be developed depending upon the residents' interests' objectives and expectations.
Additional Training
In addition to the required and elective rotations, Transitional Year Residents will participate in a series of procedural certifications including Advanced Cardiac Life Support and Neonatal Resuscitation. Upon request, certification of Pediatric Advanced Life Support and Advance Trauma Life Support are offered as well. Additional training and didactics are scheduled on Ultrasound Guided Central Lines and POCUS.
