Broadlawns Outpatient Behavioral Health Therapists

Melanie Acklin, LISW earned a Master of Social Work degree at The University of Iowa. As a Licensed Independent Social Worker, her approach is focusing on strengths and providing culturally sensitive care. She is a lifelong learner.

Barbara Arends, MSW earned a Master of Social Work from the University of Missouri-Columbia and a Bachelor’s degree from Briar Cliff University in Sioux City, Iowa. She is a Licensed Independent Social Worker and has been working in Behavioral Health for over 25 years.

Danielle Ballard-Green, LMSW has worked in behavioral health since 2011. She completed her undergraduate degree in Criminal Justice at Grand View University and received her Master of Social Work from the University of Northern Iowa. She is a certified alcohol and drug counselor (CADC). Previously, she has worked with people of all ages as a mental health therapist and has worked as a substance abuse counselor at an inpatient facility. She is trained in EMDR and specializes in Trauma Informed Care and practices from a strengths based perspective. She currently sees students at the Drake University Counseling Center.

Melvin Bobo, MS, MSW earned a Master of Rehabilitation Counseling from Drake University and a Master of Social Work from the University of Michigan. He is a Licensed Independent Social Worker and a Certified Anger Management Trainer. 

 

Kelsey Gehring, LMSW earned a Bachelor’s degree in Social Work from the University of Iowa and received a Master’s degree in Social Work from Florida State University. Prior to joining Broadlawns, Kelsey worked as a therapist at a Mental Health Clinic in Urbandale. She also has experience working with domestic and sexual violence issues, developmental disabilities, child maltreatment, and people experiencing homelessness with a co-occurring mental health diagnosis. Kelsey enjoys working with a wide variety of mental health issues.  

Kelly Kinney, MSW earned a Master of Social Work from University of Iowa and completed her undergraduate study at Simpson College in Sociology.  She is a Licensed Independent Social Worker and has been working in Behavioral Health since 1995.  Ms. Kinney enjoys working with a wide variety of mental health issues.
Amy Kluver, MSW, CADC has a Bachelor’s degree in Psychology from the University of Northern Iowa, and a Masters’ degree in Social Work from the University of Iowa focusing on individual therapy practices. As a Licensed Independent Social Worker (LISW) and Certified Alcohol and Drug Counselor (CADC), Amy works with adults to address a wide-range of mental and behavioral health issues, including co-occurring addictive disorders. Her professional areas of interest include: insomnia and related sleep issues; anxiety and mindfulness practices; anxiety related to parenting children & early adolescents.  
Dawn O’Regan, LISW earned a Master of Social Work from the University of Northern Iowa and completed her undergraduate study at Upper Iowa University. Ms. O'Regan is also a certified anger management specialist and trained in EMDR. Ms. O’Regan has worked in private practice, community mental health centers, and in children’s residential treatment settings. Her professional interests include developmental disabilities, autism, trauma, couples, and individual therapy.  She has worked in Mental Health since 1996. 

 

Kindra Perry, PsyD earned a doctorate in Clinical Psychology from the Minnesota School of Professional Psychology at Argosy University-Twin Cities. She earned a Bachelor’s Degree from the University of Iowa. Prior to coming to Broadlawns in 2014, she worked at the Forensic Transition Services Program in St. Peter, Minnesota. Professional interests include: serious and persistent mental illness; developmental disabilities; and effects of grief, trauma, and pregnancy loss. Dr. Perry works with adults in therapy and also conducts psychological evaluations.  
Cassie Welsh, LMHC
Christine Young, LISW, PMH-C earned a Bachelor of Arts degree in Sociology from Augustana College and a Masters of Social Work degree from Saint Ambrose University. She is a Licensed Independent Social Worker. Prior to joining Broadlawns she worked with adults at a Mental Health Clinic in Urbandale and with children/adolescents in an urban school setting.  She specializes in Eye Motion Desensitization Reprocessing (EMDR) therapy, Interpersonal Therapy, Cognitive-Behavioral Therapy, Family Therapy, Postpartum Depression, Anxiety, OCD and Mindfulness.
