Broadlawns Announces New Chief Medical Officer
The Broadlawns Medical Center (BMC) has named Tammy S. Chance, DO as Chief Medical Officer (CMO), effective January 15, 2024. Dr. Chance most recently served as the Medical Director of Rural Health and Quality Initiatives for Boone County Hospital. She received her Doctor of Osteopathic Medicine from the University of Osteopathic Medicine and Health Sciences in Des Moines in 1995 and has been in practice for more than 22 years as a Family Physician.

Broadlawns Medical Center hosted an open house and ribbon cutting today at the newly renovated Broadlawns Variety Pediatric Clinic, located on the lower level of the Medical Office Building, 1801 Hickman Road in Des Moines.
Broadlawns Celebrates Grand Opening of Community Clinic at Drake
The 12,000 square foot healthcare clinic will provide area residents and members of the Drake University community with primary care, urgent care, and mental health services. Patients are now able to schedule routine visits, such as wellness exams and vaccinations, in addition to being seen for non-emergent, acute illnesses, and injuries. As a public healthcare provider, Broadlawns accepts patients with Medicaid and Medicare health coverage, as well as those with commercial insurance.

The Honorable Senator Joni Ernst engaged in a roundtable discussion with key physicians from Iowa healthcare organizations, including Broadlawns, UnityPoint, MercyOne, and the Iowa Hospital Association, on the DOCTORS Act. The new effort aims to address the physician shortage that healthcare facilities throughout Iowa are experiencing and expands on the existing Conrad 30 waiver program, which addresses the shortage of qualified doctors in underserved areas.
